Outwood Academy Careers Day

Introduction to careers in construction provided by RBA

The skills shortage in construction is well known and as Quantity Surveyors we experience this first hand. We recognise the importance of promoting the construction industry and raising it’s profile particularly among students as they consider their potential career paths. Attracting future talent into the industry is essential for the sectors long term sustainability.

RBA’s Mollie Sims and Ciara Grady spent the day at Outwood Academy, Freeston where they gave an overview of their own experiences in the construction sector and routes into the industry to year 10 students. As part of the day, mock interviews were held to prepare the students for the type of questions they may face during job interviews. Mollie and Ciara also provided useful tips for preparing CV’s.

Overall the day was a success with the teachers and staff commenting upon the positive feedback they’d had from those students who attended.
