Project Description

B Braun Medical Limited are headquartered in Tankersley near Sheffield and required an expansion of their existing aseptic unit sited on their campus. The new development contains two new “grade A” clean rooms complemented by office and ancillary accommodation.

During the early design phase of the scheme RBA worked closely with B Braun to establish the ideal size of the development to make best use of the existing site conditions. During procurement of the scheme, RBA were able to work alongside the client to establish a tender list which included firms technically experienced to undertake the specialist work. Through discussions with the design team, it was concluded that a split procurement would be the most cost effective method of delivering the scheme. The “shell” works were tendered and let to a building contractor, and the clean room fit out was contracted to a specialist. This strategy provided successful and also resulted in a substantial financial saving for B Braun, as overheads and profit costs were kept to a minimum.
